Services for Children and Families

Adoption Services - The Weld County Adoption Unit works diligently to find appropriate adoptive homes for legally free children, utilizing many different resources to find the best match for the child.

Child Care Assistance Program - The Colorado Child Care Assistance Program provides financial assistance for low-income families who are working, searching for employment, or in an educational activity and need childcare services to support their efforts to achieve and/or maintain self-sufficiency.

Child Support Services - The Child Support Services(CSS) Division of the Weld County Department of Human Services provides help to parents and anyone caring for a child. CSS can help locate parents, establish paternity, establish a child support order and enforce child support obligations.

Childhood Obesity Prevention - The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE) is working to reverse the obesity trend in early childhood obesity in Weld County by intervening specifically in specific areas

Child Protection - The Child Protection Intake Unit is responsible for investigating allegations of abuse or neglect of children from birth until the age of 18.

Financial Assistance Programs - Colorado Works in Weld County - Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is the Federal name for the program that is known in Colorado as Colorado Works.

Food and Nutrition Programs - The Food Assistance Program provides a basic level of nutritional well being for eligible low-income families and individuals.

Foster Care - Weld County is seeking dedicated families willing to offer abused and neglected children a safe, stable, and loving home. Offering your home to a child is a great community service and will impact a child for the rest of his or her life.

Health and Wellness - Client Health Services offers a range of health and wellness services.

Kinship Programs - For relatives who live in the state of Colorado, the Department offers two types of kinship placements, Kinship Care and Kinship Foster Care.

Medical Assistance Programs - Health First Colorado is free or low cost public health insurance for Coloradans who qualify. Medicaid can cover doctor visits, emergency care, preventative care such as screenings and immunizations, and other procedures and treatments.

Report Abuse/Neglect - All reports made to the Department are confidential including the name of the party who reports the alleged abuse or neglect. Colorado Law protects people from liability if they make a report in good faith.
